Early Years & Education
Dr. Charles Schumacher graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in 1982, then earned his DDS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1986. That same year, he began practicing in Farmington, New Mexico — a community he has now served for four decades.
A Career Built Around Dental Sleep Medicine
Over the course of his career, Dr. Schumacher has focused much of his continuing education on dental sleep medicine, completing the Tufts University Dental Sleep Medicine program in Boston. He went on to become the first dentist in New Mexico designated both a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a Qualified Dentist by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Leadership in Organized Dentistry
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Schumacher has taken on leadership roles within organized dentistry in New Mexico, including serving as Past President of the New Mexico Dental Association and as Chair of the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care for more than a decade. He also played a role in bringing the Mission of Mercy free dental clinic program to New Mexico.
Life Outside the Office
Dr. Schumacher is married and has a daughter. When he's not caring for the Farmington community, he spends his time skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, and off-roading throughout the Four Corners region he calls home.
